Currently, the United States has two military facilities in Greenland, including the former Thul Air Base which now includes the new Pituffik Space Force Base. This all began with the 1951 Defense of Greenland Agreement between the United States and Denmark which granted the US significant rights and responsibilities regarding the defense of Greenland. This agreement was signed in the context of the Cold War, recognizing Greenland’s strategic importance for North Atlantic security and it has worked quite well for the last 73 years. These bases and protections also keeps us in good standings with our friends across the pond. Why would we suddenly decide that we need to own Greenland and threaten that relationship?
I’ve heard the arguments but we cannot act like our enemies and want to gobble up every county around us and become dictators. What we should do is become allies and work together. We need to work together like we have done so many years with Greenland and Canada. We both have expertise in different areas. We both have different cultures and we should not try to take that away for the sake of a kingdom. Some folks though would sell their soul for becoming a King of a Bigger Kingdom instead of being friendly neighbors who support each other.
My friends if you are not worried about Americas future and the future of your children and grandchildren you should be. I just turned 70 and I am proud to be an American but I am also scared to be one. We beat our chest instead of showing our strength.
When I was born General Dwight D. Eisenhower was President and in all these years, Republican and Democrats have been leaders of our country and I have never been as worried as I am right now. It is not because of Donald Trump, it is because of the people he is letting tell him what to do. He is smarter than that.
Either be the President or step aside and let a leader lead.
